The Municipality of Brockton recognizes the dedication of our community’s volunteers and are pleased to announce that nominations for our Volunteer Recognition Awards are open for the Good Neighbour Award, the Outstanding Youth Award sponsored by the Walkerton and District Optimist Club, and the Edward J. (Ted) Cobean Heritage Conservation Award. Visit Brockton.ca/VolunteerAward to view more information about the awards and submit your nomination forms. 

Nominations for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election open on May 1, 2026. Candidates may be nominated for Municipality of Brockton Council, including the offices of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and five (5) Councillors. Candidates may also be nominated for School Board Trustee positions with the Bluewater District School Board, Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde, and Conseil scolaire catholique Providence. Candidates wishing to run for Election are invited to attend a Candidate Information Session which will be held online and in-person at the Bruce County Office (30 Park Street, Walkerton) on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., to learn more about being on Council. Individuals can register through EventBrite for the online or in-person session.

To ensure your correct school support designation is provided to Elections Ontario, it should be reviewed and updated before June 1, 2026, to vote for the applicable School Board Trustee. The default school board support is English-Public unless you update your designation. Property owners, occupants, and tenants can update their school support designation online through the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation's website.

Please let staff know if you plan on representing the Municipality at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102 Remembrance Services at the Walkerton Cenotaph.

Please let staff know if you plan on attending the Community Meeting on May 13, 2026 to discuss building a sustainable food bank for Chesley and Elmwood areas.

Delegation Meeting Requests for the 2026 AMO Conference are open until May 21, 2026. Please let staff know as soon as possible which delegation meetings you'd like to request.

Join us on May 12, 2026 for Provincial Day of Action on Litter and help keep our community clean, green and beautiful! If you need supplies or a park to clean contact Brockton Parks and Recreation at 519-881-0625 or send an email and staff can assign you a park, or provide garbage bags and gloves to help make your clean-up a success.

The Council of the Municipality of Brockton will enter into Closed Session in order to address matters pertaining to:

  • Labour relations or employee negotiations - Staffing Update
  • Litigation or potential litigation, including matters before administrative tribunals, affecting the municipality of local board - Property Owner Claims
  • Advice that is subject to solicitor/client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose - Flooding Damages
